On Monday, Red Robin class walked to the town library to enjoy a story session. They got to listen and join in with some stories and explore the different books on offer. It was a wonderful opportunity for all the children.
This week in Reception, we had a mystery to solve. The children found a suitcase in the classroom and had to work out who had left it there. The next day the mysterious visitor arrived, Paddington Bear. The children have helped to write name tags for
Paddington, taught him how to look after himself and helped to write a shopping list so that he could make some more sandwiches. As a reward the children got to make some sandwiches too. They chose their topping and spread this themselves before enjoying these for snack.
Earlier this term some areas of the school were given a refresh with new wall art. The Rainbow Room and the Reception classroom book area have both been given a woodland feel, while the under the sea theme has been continued further around the dining room.
The children have decided to rename the Rainbow Room which will now be called, perhaps unsurprisingly, the Woodland Room!
With thanks to the Friend of Tannery Drift who have funded part of this project. We are sure you will agree that the artwork makes for a wonderful space for the children.
Our children enjoyed dressing up for Number Day, and took part in a variety of maths-based activities. Well done to all those children who competed in the TT Rockstars competition - having fun and improving their times table recall at the same time. Thank you for everyone who made a donation to the NSPCC.
Friday 2nd February is NSPCC Number Day! Pupils are asked to wear an item of clothing with a number on it (e.g. football shirt, cap, number badges) or get even more creative by dressing in a maths - or numbers - themed outfit (e.g. as a clock).
To help raise money for the NSPCC we are asking for a suggested donation of £1 for taking part and would really appreciate any extra donations to sponsor the range of activities that the children will take part in on the day. You can donate by visiting the Just Giving page: Tannery Drift First School is fundraising for NSPCC (justgiving.com)
We are pleased to share the results of the transition survey that Early Years families contributed to last term. Thank you to everyone who responded, your feedback has helped us to plan next steps to improve the transition process for children and their families.
The results can be viewed on the Nursery and Reception class pages.
This week we welcomed some very special visitors into school.
