  • Learning about people who help us

    This week Ladybirds were very lucky to have a visit from a parent who volunteers within the Army Cadet Force. This supported their learning around people who help us and some of the important jobs within the armed forces. They listened well and got to explore some of the equipment.

  • Reception drawing club

    As part of their learning this term, the Reception classes are taking part in Drawing Club. This is an approach to learning which stretches the children’s imaginations and develops their skills in mark making, vocabulary and mathematics. The children have a focus story each week, which last week was The Three Little Pigs. As part of this the children drew the pig’s houses and learnt the vocabulary to describe them. Well done Reception!

    This week we were happy to have Stagecoach Theatre Group in school, running workshops with Years 1-4. The children had a wonderful time in their sessions and learnt some great dance routines!

  • Open Events for prospective new parents

    If your child is due to join Nursery or Reception in September 2025, we will be hosting two Open Events for prospective parents this term, Thursday 7th November 2024 9.30am - 11am and Tuesday 19th November 2024 9.30am - 11am.

  • FTDS Wildlife Area Tidy

    A huge thank you to those who gave up their time at the weekend to help tidy the school Wildlife Area. Massive progress was made to clear the area and chop back the brambles and ivy around the FTDS shed. Thanks to all the families who helped on Sunday and we hope you enjoyed the morning!

  • Year 1 Geography Walk

    Last week Year 1 had a lovely walk in the sunshine into Royston, to look at geographical features both human and physical. The children pointed out different buildings and landmarks and drew a sketch of what they could see. There was even time for a quick play stop in Priory Gardens before walking back to school.

  • Baking Bread in Reception

    In Reception, the topic at the moment is Autumn. This week they have been learning about how flour is made and how a windmill works. To support their learning and to help the children develop kneading and pinching skills, they have been making hedgehog bread rolls.
    We think they look fantastic, well done Little Tigers and Red Robins!
