  • Royston in Blue

    Published 04/07/25

Last Sunday we were delighted to see so many of the Tannery Drift School community taking part in, and supporting,
Royston in Blue. This fantastic annual event sees people run, walk, wheel or toddle the 5km course on Royston Heath, all whilst raising money for a wonderful cause – The Teenage Cancer Trust East Anglia.

It was a wonderful day with everyone really giving it their all, despite the intense heat! For some of our youngest Tannery Drift pupils this was the first event of this kind they have taken part in, and the first medals they have been awarded.

Well done to everyone who took part, and we encourage looking out for next year’s event and signing-up if you are able to.

  • County Tennis Finals - Silver Medalists

    Published 27/06/25

Following their recent win in the Royston and Villages Tennis Tournament, four pupils from Tannery Drift represented the school (and town) in the Hertfordshire Schools Tennis Finals in Welwyn.

The children arrived for the day well-prepared and eager to compete, and were welcomed warmly with congratulations on the amazing achievement of progressing to this stage of the tournament.

The schools were split into 2 pools, with the children then playing against each of the other schools in their pool.

Our team played some fantastic tennis, only losing in their pool to one other team, from Haberdashers Independent School.

The Tannery Drift team was then through to the semi-finals, playing the winning school from the other pool, who we’re delighted to say they beat, which put them through to the Grand Final, playing Haberdashers Independent School for the second time!

After some nail-biting matches, Tannery Drift won silver, finishing second place in the tournament out of over 400 Primary Schools!

Throughout the day, the children demonstrated fantastic teamwork and support for one another and should be so proud of this fantastic achievement.  Mrs Greetham and the school tennis coach, Matt Fellingham, could not be prouder of the team’s performance. Well done Charlotte, Georgina, Girvan and Joel!
